3D maquette of Emona for the iEmona exhibition
3d model reconstruction of 1st century roman city of Emona - modern day Ljubljana Slovenia
We were glad to work together with the City Museum of Ljubljana (MGML) for the Municipality of Ljubljana on the iEmona digital exhibition as part of the 2000 years Emona (Ljubljana) anniversary. One of the projects we realized for the iEmona exhibition is a 3D city model of the Roman settlement of Emona (1st century A.D.) positioned in the modern day city center of Ljubljana. In close cooperation with leading Slovene archaeologists and historians we were able to reconstruct the Emona settlement in great detail. Our 3D model is based on archaeological evidence, resulting in a historically accurate 3D representation of the Roman city.
The National Institute of Spatial Studies supplied us with satellite data of the local topography for our 3D visualization. Next we created a DEM (Digital Elevation Map) to produce a 3D optimized model of the terrain. With great care we pinpointed the historical location of the structures. The production process of digital asset creation coincided with the meticulous layout work. After half a year our hard work paid of in the form of a high-end CG model which formed the basis for a one of a kind maquette of Emona on this scale.
Renders of 3d model reconstruction of 1st century A.D. Emona placed in location of today's Ljubljana and surrounding topography, based on archeological evidence and findings.Model was produced for physical maquette model by CtrlArt in 2012, as part of a digital exhibit for the iEmona exhibition, MGML, Ljubljana, Slovenia.
