Brand: Gorenje d.d. Client: Grey Ljubljana Year: 2016
The Gorenje ‘Life Simplified’ application is an exciting immersive Augmented Reality experience tailor-made for the biggest consumer electronic fair in Europe, IFA2016 in Berlin. The AR app showcases the versatility of Gorenje home appliances in a lively, entertaining and immersive way.
Gorenje ‘Life Simplified’ Augmented Reality application
Together with the agency we developed a multifaceted AR application showcasing the versatility of Gorenje products in a lively, entertaining and immersive way at the biggest consumer electronics fair in Europe, IFA 2016 in Berlin.
The idea was simple; Gorenje household appliances are easy-to-use and take work from your hands, so you’re left with time. Time to explore, time to create and time to enjoy. Building further upon these ‘slogans’ we developed an AR application which represented exactly these benefits and translated it into three Augmented Reality stations utilizing smartly designed markers within the Gorenje stand.

Time to Enjoy
exhibited the adaptability and various settings of the Smartflex Dishwasher with nifty 3d animations, a touch of interactivity, and a smashing Bubble pop game. By combining detailed visuals with intuitive user experience and gamified components we were able to create an AR experience which not only clearly demonstrated the wide variety of features of the dishwasher but also infused a playful competitive element engaging users in a unique way.
Time to Create
revolved around cooking. The station consisted of a unique Augmented Reality cooking experience combining intuitive ux (design) with meticulously modeled 3d assets and topped off with interactivity. Users could chop, slice, boil, mix and bake, using responsive 3d models of kitchen utensils, ingredients and Gorenje appliances. Everybody could become a 5 star chef reparing tasty virtual dishes infused with heaps of fun and without getting their hands dirty.
Time to Explore
highlighted the new Volkswagen Bulli refrigerator, a fridge taking the best design elements from the classic Volkswagen bus combined with Gorenje household appliance technology. The Augmented Reality experience enabled users to alter the colors on a true to life 3d model of the fridge, and explore and change the interactive environment it is placed in. But the exploration went even further, enabling users to transform the fridge into a VW Bulli van which cruised through dynamic changeable sceneries. We created the illusion users were actually driving the van themselves on tropical beaches, through a frozen landscape and forest. To add to the experience we incorporated an option for ‘explorers’ to have a snapshot taken while cruising in the van and share it via Facebook. Due to the overwhelming success of this station, being a clear crowd-puller and in essence just a lot of fun Gorenje decided to continue the use of this Experience. The AR Bulli van is now cruising through Europe, and already made pit stops at events in Portorož, Paris and Cologne.
Gorenje product catalogue
The application featured an extensive Gorenje product catalogue highlighting all the showcased products at the fair, their technical specs and specially designed product lines. As well as an Augmented Reality component embedded in the catalogue which enabled visitors to view AR-driven information about particular appliances in the Gorenje area.
360 Virtual Tour
To give people who didn’t visit the Gorenje stand at IFA 2016 still the possibility to take a detailed look we made a 360 Virtual Tour of the exhibition space. This way offering an interactive and complete view of the premises and the displayed appliances.
